Winslow Township, PA – A Reynoldsville man was scammed out of $2,000 recently.

On Oct. 28, an 81-year-old Reynoldsville man told police that he had paid someone after he received a scam call, in which someone had hacked into and locked his computer.

The victim was instructed to go to Giant Eagle and purchase four $500 gift cards and provide the numbers on the back, which he did.

There are no investigative leads at this time.

If anyone calls you and demands money or personal information, it’s a scam. No reputable company will ever ask for payment specifically in gift cards.

If you receive an odd phone call or if someone is harassing or threatening you, hang up and tell police.

Do not give them money or financial info.
