Brockway, PA – Santa Claus helped light the Brockway Community Christmas Tree Friday evening during a snowy ceremony.
The third annual event, hosted by Scouts BSA Troop 40, had Santa escorted by police cars, fire trucks, PA Wilds Jeepers, and Pine Creek Search Unit. Several search dogs led the procession.
Normally, the community members would be led in carols, but Troop 40’s April London said that it was too cold and asked everyone to join her in the American Legion for hot chocolate and Christmas cheer.
The Scout troop started the tradition when Brockway got a new tree near American Legion Post 95. Each year, residents of Brockway line Main Street to see the parade and wait for Santa and London to light the tree. Children lined up to get pictures with Santa, and then hopped on a hay ride around town.
London was excited that so many people came out for the event, even though snow and sleet were in the air.
