Clarion, PA – A Clarion County man was scammed out of $530 while attempting to buy a Playstation 5.

The 19-year-old Strattanville man told police he sent the money via Apple Pay to someone claiming to be selling the video game system on the Pennswoods classified website on March 18.

He never received his purchase.

Again, police are warning you to be cautious anytime you are purchasing something online or sending money.

You should only send money to people you know personally. If you are going to purchase something through a classifieds website or online group, try to see the object in-person before you purchase it.

Use a form of payment that can be tracked, if possible. Most scam artists only want you to pay in ways that make it difficult for you to ever get your money back.
