Clearfield, PA – Congratulations to a newly expanded business in our area! Lefort’s Sweet Shoppe in Clearfield has added an escape room to their current treat store.
Escape rooms are 60-minute-long missions that you pay for to complete with family or friends, searching for clues and solving puzzles to ultimately free yourself from the room.
The new escape room at Lefort’s Sweet Shoppe is based on a speakeasy from the 1920s during Prohibition.
The owner says it was part of the business’s plan to recoup some of the losses from COVID-19 shutdowns.
The escape room will be open 7 days a week but needs to be booked in advance.
Press release from the Visit Clearfield County tourism board:
Lefort’s Sweet Shoppe has added an Escape Room to its offerings at the Shoppe.
People ask, “What is an Escape Room?” In an Escape Room, you are given a mission and placed into a themed room where you must explore to find hints and clues. You may find a container that needs a passcode to open, or a lock that needs a key. If you search hard enough, you can figure out passcodes, open all the locks, find hidden items, and ultimately free yourself.
Sweet Shoppe Escape Rooms a division of the Sweet Shoppe has created an escape room based upon a speakeasy from the 1920’s during Prohibition. Gamers are locked into a speakeasy that is about to be
raided by Eliot Ness and his Untouchables. They must discover the clues and complete tasks or the Boss before they can escape. If they fail the coppers will be hauling them off to the hoosegow (jail).
The expansion into the escape room market was in response to the decline in business attributed to Covid-19. The rooms are priced competitively with other area escape rooms. The Speakeasy is designed for 3-6 individuals.
Each 60-minute session must be booked online at sweetshoppeescaperooms.com in advance.
The Escape Rooms will be open 7 days a week.
Other rooms are in development and will be announced when available for booking.
Sweet Shoppe Escape Rooms are the first in the Clearfield Market. This is yet another attraction for Clearfield that will be an attraction to both visitors to the area and residents alike. Escape Rooms have become an extremely popular activity with individuals willing to travel long distances to experience new and different rooms.
Charles Lefort, business manager/owner, says, “The escape rooms are one more attraction/asset for downtown Clearfield, and I believe the rooms will result in spin-off business as well. We need to bring people into the downtown to experience everything Clearfield has to offer.”
