Brockway, PA – The Brockway School Board held its annual reorganization meeting Monday, with Katie Bish continuing as board president.

Katie Bish was thankful for the opportunity to continue in the president position.

When the reorganization meeting wrapped up, the regular December meeting began.

The board renewed a contract with Riverview IU-6 and CenClear for family services. It also brought in two new custodians. The football team will continue under Coach Jacob Heigel in 2021. The board agreed to re-hire several assistant coaches for the Rovers. In volleyball, the junior varsity coach position will be filled by Brittney Stauffer.

December 16 is now a flex day to allow teachers to streamline their online and offline lessons.

The board signed its Attestation Ensuring Implementation of Mitigation Efforts form from the state, saying that its efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 in the district meets state mandates. Superintendent Jeff Vizza said the community needs to work together to keep the schools open.

If the district has four active cases in a rolling 14-day period in one of its buildings, that building will have to close for cleaning and contact tracing. If that should happen, teachers will still report to their classrooms and students will use Google Classroom to continue schoolwork.

The board will meet again on its regular second Tuesday of the month. January’s meeting is at 7 p.m. on January 12 in the district office.
