Clearfield, PA – Someone stole “support your local police” signs in Clearfield, spray painted them with the letters ACAB and BLM instead, and hid them in the grandstands at the Clearfield Fairgrounds.

Officers in Clearfield also kept busy over the past couple of days with some minor incidents, including a snapping turtle that they rescued from a public roadway and reports of a potential explosive device that turned out to just be a piece of metal pipe.

July 6, 2020 reports from Clearfield Borough Police Department:

  • Lawrence Township Police Department came in contact with a wanted female that contained a warrant through this department. The female was taken into custody.
  • Police responded to numerous complaints in reference to fireworks.
  • While on patrol, Clearfield officers observed a wanted male on a bicycle. Police made contact with the male who taken into custody.
  • Police responded to a report of a snapping turtle on a public roadway. Police and fire crews managed to safely remove the turtle from the roadway and return it to a safe environment.
  • Officers responded to an incident involving an altercation inside a residence. Police arrived on scene deescalated the situation.
  • Police responded to a noise complaint. The resident agreed to turn her music down and was given a warning.
  • Clearfield Borough Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male throwing bottles in a public park. Police arrived on scene and took the male into custody.
  • LTPD were assisted in locating an individual who was experiencing a mental health situation.
  • Police responded to a report of an incapacitated male. Police and EMS arrived on scene. The male regain consciousness and was transported to the hospital.
  • LTPD were assisted with an incident involving a vehicle accident in which the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
  • Officers received a report of two bicycles being stolen. Police are investigating.
  • Police responded to a report of a potential explosive device. Upon arrival, police determined the object to just be a piece of metal pipe.
  • Clearfield Borough Police responded to a report of harassment. Upon arrival, police found one of the individual to contain a warrant. The male was able to satisfy the warrant and was released.

July 6, 2020 reports from Clearfield Borough Police Department:

  • An officer viewed a male on East Market Street who was known to hold an active warrant through the Clearfield Sheriff’s Office. The male fled on foot but was apprehended and placed in custody a short time later. The male was transported to CCJ.
  • Officers were dispatched to a residence on Barclay Street for a domestic dispute. Upon arrival, it was found that a male and female had engaged in a verbal argument. Both were warned for their actions.
  • Clearfield Borough Police were dispatched to a residence on Temple Avenue for multiple individuals arguing loudly citations pending.
  • Officers were dispatched to a residence on Spruce Street for a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival, it was found that a female accidentally hit her life alert button.
  • Police from this department assisted LTPD with a disorderly female on US route 322 near Paradise School Road.
  • Officers responded to a residence on East Pine Street for an incident of stalking. The male is known to police and he will be charged for his actions.
  • Several “Support Your Local Police” signs were reported stolen from multiple individuals. Police later found the signs in the Grand Stands at the Clearfield Driving Park with “ACAB” (All cops are bad/bastards) and “BLM” (black lives matter) spray painted on the signs. Anyone with information of the thefts are asked to contact the Clearfield Borough Police.
