Brookville, PA – Two area fifth graders decided to use their time and energy this holiday season for other children who have suffered from abuse.
The two boys, Declan Reitz and Luke Sorek, are friends who not only attend elementary school together in Brookville but also share the same birthday.
This year, instead of presents, they asked their fellow fifth grade friends to donate items to Western Pa CARES for Kids Child Advocacy Center: an organization that takes a special process in interviewing children who claim to have been victims of abuse or were witnesses to a violent crime to help lessen the trauma that the child may experience.
On Wednesday, they delivered snacks, supplies and $100 to Pat Berger, Executive Director of CARES. Berger went on to say, “We are so thankful for their thoughtful kindness and appreciate their selflessness in foregoing gifts to themselves in order to help children from their own community who have been affected by abuse.”
