Lock Haven, PA – A giant industrial dryer had everyone so excited and also worried about their travel routes recently… That dryer, called the Yankee Dryer super load, has officially been delivered and is now safely in its new home in Lock Haven.
It will be used in the First Quality Tissue factory to make toilet paper and paper towels.
The trailer that brought the dryer to Lock Haven is now several thousand pounds lighter, but it’s still heavy and wide, so it’s still considered a super load itself. It’ll be traveling to Valparaiso, Indiana over the next few days.
PennDOT wants to thank everyone for the patience over the last week and a half while the Yankee Dryer was causing some traffic issues. If you ever want to know what traffic, road repairs, or weather conditions you might encounter on Pennsylvania roadways, check out 511PA.com.
Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting area drivers that the Yankee Dryer super load has arrived at First Quality Tissue in Lock Haven.
This delivery marks the end of a 300-mile journey that began early this month. The dryer was delivered to First Quality just before 1:30 p.m. Monday.
The super load left the Port of Erie Thursday, December 5, and traversed portions of Erie, Crawford, Venango, Clarion, Forest, Elk, Clearfield, Centre, and Clinton counties.
PennDOT thanks regional drivers for their patience during this challenging move.
With the dryer delivered, the trailer that transported it is still considered a Super Load. The D and G Heavy Haul trailer weighs 324,000 pounds, is 217 feet long, 13.6 feet high, and 14.6 feet wide. It will travel Route 120 and Route 220 out of Lock Haven and then enter I-80 as it travels home to Valparaiso, Indiana.
