Jones Township, PA – Three out-of-state people were injured in a crash over the weekend in Elk County.
19-year-old Joshua Safeer from Maryland was driving his Honda Civic on the Wilcox Road portion of Route 219 in Jones Township around 8:15 Sunday night.
He fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road, striking a mailbox and a road sign while overturning the vehicle several times.
Safeer and one passenger, 19-year-old Gregory Bristol from New Jersey, had been wearing their seat belts. They both minor injuries and were taken to Penn Highlands Hospital in St. Marys.
Another passenger, 20-year-old Michael Shokoff from New Jersey, had not been wearing a seat belt.
Shokoff had serious injuries and, although he was originally taken to Penn Highlands with the other men, he later had to be flown to Altoona Hospital.
