Ridgway, PA – A Clearfield man and a family from New York state were injured in a car crash Thursday afternoon in Ridgway.

Police say that, around 5 p.m., 56-year-old David Kronenwetter from Clearfield had been driving too fast on the Boot Jack Road portion of Route 219 in Ridgway.

Traffic in front of him had stopped, and Kronenwetter swerved into the other lane to avoid striking the stopped cars.

Kronenwetter struck a car driven by 38-year-old Lucia Guarnieri from Jamestown, NY, head-on.

She and her front seat passenger, 50-year-old John Guarnieri had both been wearing their seat belt and had minor injuries. A 7-year-old girl in a booster seat in the back of the car had possible injuries. Everyone in that car was checked out at the scene for injuries but refused treatment.

Kronenwetter had not been wearing his seat belt. He was taken to Penn Highlands Elk for injuries of unknown severity. He’s being charged with not driving at a safe speed and not wearing his seat belt.
