Brockway, PA – Brockway Area Volunteer Fire Department joined Sandy Township and other fire departments in an aerial operation training Sunday, visiting several buildings along Main Street in Brockway.

These buildings were not on fire, and the trucks did not pour water on them.  Instead, Brockway and the other departments pre-planned where they would place trucks and tankers during a fire at those locations.  They also moved the ladders into position around those buildings, learning how to avoid obstructions like trees, telephone wires, and uneven terrain.

In some cases, the previous plan they had coming into the training had to be redrawn as the trucks were not positioned in the best location to fight the fire.

Brockway Assistant Fire Chief Devin Trentini said that bringing other departments together to practice is important to see how everyone’s equipment will work in an emergency situation.
