Harrisburg, PA – Lawmakers are calling on the federal government to help crack down on telemarketers using Robo Call scams.
The bill would allow the FCC and the federal government to penalize scam callers.
Although the bill passed unanimously in the House, it still would need to be voted on by the Senate and signed by the governor.
In the meantime, some of the things you can do to avoid scam phone calls:
Do not answer phone calls from numbers you do not recognize. If it is important or someone who actually needs to speak with you, they can always leave a message in your voicemail.
If you do answer a phone call, never give out personal information or financial information.
Sign up for the free nationwide and state Do Not Call Registries. It won’t stop all calls, but it will stop at least some. Follow this link for more information.
