Sandy Township, PA – Two people had to be lifeflighted from the scene of a crash on Interstate 80 on July 16 in Clearfield County.
A commercial vehicle went off of I-80 near mile marker 96 in Sandy Township around 7:30 Tuesday night. The vehicle rolled onto its roof within the median.
The male driver and his juvenile male passenger were both trapped inside and had to be extricated from the vehicle. The crash shut down the eastbound lanes of I-80.
After they were removed from the vehicle, both victims were immediately flown by helicopter to Pittsburgh area hospitals.
The investigation is ongoing.
