Young Township, PA – A woman was seriously injured when she rear-ended another vehicle in Jefferson County.

It happened along South Main Street Extension in Young Township, just south of Punxsutawney, around 12:17 p.m. on Monday.

72-year-old Joyce Haagen from Punxsutawney had been driving her Chevrolet Cruz behind a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 31-year-old Bradley Powell from Punxsutawney.

Powell stopped and waited for oncoming traffic to pass before he made a left turn into his workplace parking lot. Police say Haagen was following too closely and rear-ended the Jeep at a moderate speed.

Powell was not injured, but Haagen was taken by ambulance to the Punxsutawney Area Hospital with serious injuries.

Everyone involved had been wearing their seat belts.
