Sandy Township, PA – A road rage argument in the DuBois Wal-Mart parking lot led one DuBois man to brandish a gun at another man.

It was just after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, June when Sandy Township Police say they were called out for reports of a man waving a gun in the air.

The argument had apparently started as a road rage incident at the intersection of Bee Line Highway and Industrial Drive. 36-year-old Michael McKendrick of DuBois allegedly followed the victim into the parking lot and confronted him.

McKendrick initially threatened the victim with a knife, who then grabbed a weed eater to defend himself. McKendrick then reportedly pulled out a black pistol, later found to be an exact replica CO2 BB pistol, and pulled back the hammer.

The victim ran back to his vehicle and fled the parking lot. He and other witnesses called 911.

Police were able to spot McKendrick’s grey Dodge truck in the Morningside Cemetery area, and they pulled the vehicle over just before the Snappy’s on Route 255.

McKendrick and his female driver were taken into custody. After investigating and the pistol not being found on his person or the vehicle, McKendrick admitted that he had thrown it out the window of his truck. It was later found in the weeds along Route 255.

McKendrick was arraigned on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct.

His bail was set at $50,000, and he remains lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.

The female driver who was on probation was detained and charges are pending for suspected driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
