Punxsutawney, PA – A woman was killed in an early morning house fire in Punxsutawney yesterday.

72-year-old Sally Geer lived in the home in the 200 block of West Liberty Street that caught fire Monday morning just after 4 a.m.

She was unable to escape the second floor.

The fire marshal says the flames originated on the second floor of the home, and home health oxygen and smoking materials were found within the area of origin.

The cause was accidental.

In addition to causing the woman’s death, the fire also caused about $250,000 in damage.

An autopsy is scheduled for this Wednesday.

There’s no word yet on when funeral services will be held for Sally Geer.
