Punxsutawney, PA – It was announced this week that the Pennsylvania Department of Education has awarded the Punxsutawney Area School District a targeted Safe Schools Equipment Grant for nearly $20,000.

Representative Chris Dush made the announcement and went on to say, “This funding is a continuation of our ongoing commitment to ensuring that our local school districts have the resources they need to provide safe learning environments…This targeted funding can be used to purchase security technology, hire security personnel, develop emergency response plans or institute specialized staff training programs.”

Four other school districts had been previously awarded Safe School Grants totaling over $116,000 in Dush’s 66th Legislative District which includes all of Jefferson County and parts of Indiana County.
