DuBois, PA – Students at DuBois Central Catholic were transported back in time on Friday with their annual Civil War Re-enactment Day.
Sharon Aaron, a re-enactor and a former DCC teacher, started the event ten years ago for the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.
The students learn first-hand what life was like during the Civil War.
Listen to the interview with co-organizers, Sharon Aaron and Tara Kramer. They’re also joined by fellow re-enactors, Thomas Aaron and Walter Marr.
They march as if going to battle, see how medical operations would have been handled at that time, see artifacts and artwork from the time period, eat foods like hard tack and hand fried doughnuts, craft metal crafts with help from BCAT, and play games that kids enjoyed back then.
They even got to hear a speech and talk with a President Abraham Lincoln re-enactor.
