Punxsutawney, PA – A Jefferson County man who was caught with marijuana following a traffic stop in Punxsutawney Borough is due in court next week.

Brett Alan Batley Jr., age 23 of Punxsutawney, will have his preliminary hearing on Tuesday, April 9th, as he faces one felony and four misdemeanors stemming from an arrest on New Year’s Day.

According to court documents, Batley was pulled over during the afternoon of January 1st as part of a routine traffic stop by State Police.

The trooper then noticed the smell of marijuana and also that Batley’s registration and insurance cards were expired.

The police then conducted a search and found eight baggies of marijuana, various drug paraphernalia as well as over $1500 in cash.

He was taken into custody with charges being filed on Thursday, January 24th.
