Punxsutawney – A Punxsutawney woman allegedly broke into a residence and then fought the police who arrived to arrest her.

Sherry Lynn Gomola, 42, of Punxsutawney is facing felony charges including two counts of Aggravated Assault, Criminal Trespass-Break into Structure as well as three misdemeanors.

According to the report, on Monday night, March 18th, police were called to a residence on Park Avenue for a report of an intoxicated person in a residence.

When they arrived, they found Gomola in the home who was on her back on the couch and allegedly kicking the male occupant of the residence.

Gomola then resisted arrest, including kicking at the officers, before being tasered and put in handcuffs.

It is believed she gained entry to the residence by smashing the living room window with a lawn chair and jumping inside.

She was arraigned in district court on Tuesday, March 19th and was lodged in Jefferson County Jail after being unable to post the $5000 monetary bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26th.
