Pennsylvania – It’s not just the wearing o’ the green on St. Patrick’s Day… it’s the spending of it.

WalletHub analyst Jill Gonzalez says we’ll spend more than $6 billion a nation on St Paddy’s Day. That’s about $40 per person.

“It’s become a big consumer holiday. It’s now the third biggest drinking holiday, after New Year’s Eve and Mardi Gras.”

Here’s where you’ll get the most for your green, she says. “Number one, of course, with its green river, is Chicago. Number two, Philadelphia with its Erin Express.”

The biggest celebrations, in New York and Boston, are more expensive.
