Brookville, PA – Brookville Council plans to rename Northside Field in honor of local donors.

Following a generous donation from Paul and Sandra Blake, the field will be officially renamed Blake Field. The donors are the former owners of Blake’s Hardware Store.

At last night’s borough meeting, Jason Geer of the Brookville Area Little League updated council on improvements that were made to the field last year, including new restrooms, a new press box area and a new roof. A special sign honoring the Blakes will be installed this spring.

Council also accepted the resignation of long-time public works employee James Rowan for retirement purposes. Under its union agreement, Council plans to advertise for applicants to fill the position.

Councilman Rick Baughman announced that a Cleanup Day will be held throughout the borough on April 19. Through an agreement with a local waste hauler, household items typically difficult to dispose of will be picked up at curbside, with the exception of electronics and hazardous materials. The borough will provide close to 1,000 heavy duty garbage bags residents can use at no cost.
