Pennsylvania – Got a college-bound student in your house? PNC Bank come up with the Freshman Financial Fifteen to help keep college students fiscally fit.

Branch manager Connie Spiers from the West Virginia office says, for number one, talk to a parent or mentor.

“A lot of times they’ve done something, been there before, or they know people who have gone there before you. You can learn a lot from their successes and their mistakes.”

Another tip… you gotta budget.

“Add it all up, see what things you spent on unnecessary expenses. It could be going out to get your nails done or could be going out to eat… any of the things that really are non-necessities.
