The DuBois Stroke Support Group will meet at the Friendship Hose Co., 12 South Main Street, DuBois at 1 p.m. today. Parking is available behind the hall. This support group is for those who have suffered a stroke, brain injury or neurological condition.

Have you lost a loved one? Please come the Coping with Loss Support Group today from 5 until 6 p.m. at Penn Highlands Clearfield, in the Samuel J. Waterworth Medical Building. Come be with people who understand what you are experiencing.

A special “Coffee and Commerce” meeting will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at the Parkside Community Center in DuBois from 8 until 9 a.m. Come learn what new things are happening and how we can make our community even better! Open to the public.

Every Wednesday, the DuBois First United Methodist Church (100 W. Long Ave.) holds a free soup dinner. Soup is served from 5 until 6 p.m.

It’s another fantastic First Friday event at The Winkler Gallery & Art Education Center this Friday, March 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Gallery space (above Latino’s Mexican Restaurant). Special features this month are the Jeff Tech Student Art Show, musician James Alan Ott, plus food and beverage from sponsors Aegis Coffee Roasters, Depot at Doolittle’s and the Winery at Wilcox. Now handicapped accessible with the new chairlift!

The Wasson Ave Elementary 4th grade class is holding a Craft and Vendor show on Saturday, March 2 from 9 until 4 in the DuBois Middle School gym. Want to be a vendor? $30 per table.

Support the Relay for Life of DuBois while getting some amazing stuff! Community for a Cure to benefit the DuBois Relay for Life is Saturday, March 2 at Blackwood Auctions in Luthersburg from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Vendors can still sign up for a table for $25.) More than 60 raffles baskets. Bring the kids! The Easter Bunny will be there too!

The Health and Wellness Fair at the Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church on Shaffer Street in Sykesville will be held on Saturday, March 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free to the public! Get blood screenings, family wellness checks, cancer education, and help understanding your medication! Basket raffles and healthy snacks. Accepting canned goods for local food bank.

Paint and Play School (non-profit preschool in DuBois) is holding a Purse Extravaganza Raffle Party on Sunday, March 3 at Luigi’s Villa. Doors open at 1, first drawing at 1:30, and last drawing at 4. Prizes will be awarded every 20 minutes. Purses from Coach, Vera Bradley, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Brighton Jewelry. 50/50 raffle too! Ticket cost is $35 and are available at Two Birch Winery, Luigi’s Ristorante and Paint and Play School.

The Junior Scholastic Challenge that was postponed due to snow last week has been rescheduled for Monday, March 4 at 6:30 at the Hiller Auditorium at the Penn State DuBois campus. Free event. Come cheer on our local students and see how clever they really are!

The Us TOO International Prostate Cancer Education and Support Network will meet Monday, March 4, at 7 p.m., in St. Camillus Hall, Penn Highlands DuBois West. Us TOO is for those who have questions about prostate cancer, who need support or would like to have insight into what the future will bring from a personal background.

A Community Blood Bank Blood Drive is being held at the CRC Assembly Room at Penn Highlands DuBois on Tuesday, March 5 from 10 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Community Blood Bank is the only provider of blood products for Penn Highlands Healthcare patients. Donating blood here provides a life-saving gift to your friends, family, and neighbors at Penn Highlands.

The 4th Annual Sip and Snack to benefit Pentz Run Foster Home will be held on Saturday, March 9 from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Lakeview Lodge in Treasure Lake! Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. (Spots for vendors, food samples, and wineries/breweries still available.) Enjoy entertainment by Root 2 Fifth and samples from area restaurants, caterers, bakeries, wineries, breweries and distilleries! Crafters, vendors, door prizes, auction, and 50/50.

The DuBois Nursing Home is holding a tasty Chili Cook-Off on Wednesday, March 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Want to compete in the cook-off? Call or visit them for rules. If you want to sample and vote for the winner, buy a ticket for a $5 donation and receive chili taste samples, hot dog, drink and chance to vote for “Best Chili”. Winner of the cook-off will receive a $50 gift card and “Right to Brag” Best Chili Trophy. Benefits the local Alzheimer’s Walk.

The things gathering dust in your attic could be worth some money! The “Pot o’ Gold” antique appraisal fair will be held on Saturday, March 16 from noon until 5 p.m at the Parkside Community Center in DuBois. Join them for music, food, and fun. Antique appraisals are $5 per item or 3 for $10. Appraisers include Southside Pickers, Dwayne Test (coin appraiser), Pat Errigo (auctioneer and appraiser), and Ben Rossi Jewelers.
