Harrisburg, PA – Lawmakers are working on a bill that would make some slight changes to how people can be eligible for homecare services instead of going into a nursing home first.
Rep. Matt Gabler has been one of the people working on House Bill 51.
He says, under the current law, people who have need for Medicare homecare services might have to first go to a nursing home to apply for the homecare, even though they might not need to go into a nursing home first at all.
Gabler says it will not only save taxpayers money, but it will keep people at home where they are more comfortable and can heal in a familiar environment.
The bill has yet to be voted on, but final passage is expected sometime in March.
