Pennsylvania – People are debating whether a new piece of car technology is a creepy breach of privacy or an honorable safety measure.

Subaru is rolling out a new system that monitors your face to make sure you keep your eyes on the road.

Driver Focus uses sensors mounted on the dashboard to track your face. If you stare out the window too long or glance at your phone, an alert sounds.

Engadget’s Roberto Baldwin says that the system debuts amidst concerns about distracted driving.

Baldwin also says it’s an effective reminder for inattentive drivers.

Driver Focus is only available on the newest Subaru Forester, though it is planned for other models.
