Brockway, PA – The Brockway School Board met Tuesday, making up a meeting delayed by a snow day.

Snow days were the first priority during the meeting, as the board approved changing in-service days on March 18 and April 22 were changed to snow make-up days. Any additional snow days will be made up at the end of the school year.

The school board also approved the retirements of Annette Carnahan, Lynda Manhart, and Patricia Sedlock.  Carnahan had 23 years in the district and spent the last few as a Title I teacher. Manhart spent her whole 27-year career teaching kindergarten. Sedlock worked for Brockway for 13 years teaching family and consumer sciences.

The district also approved starting the 2019-2020 school year on August 23. The anticipated last day of school will be May 22, 2020.

Superintended Jeff Vizza thanked the school board for its hard work. The board approved the proposed 2019-2020 budget at $16,087,511.

The Brockway Area School Board will meet again on March 12 at 7 p.m.
