Bell Township, PA – Two crashes happened within just minutes on the icy roads on State Route 219 on Wednesday afternoon.

First, just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday in Bell Township near its intersection with Johnson Road, a Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck lost traction and attempted to brake while going around a curve. That caused the truck to slide into the other lane and strike a Dodge RAM pickup driving in the opposite direction.

No one was injured, but the driver of the Chevrolet was taken to Penn Highlands DuBois because she was pregnant.

The names of those drivers have not yet been released. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

The next crash happened just a minute later in the same area.

59-year-old Shelly Rauckhorst of Grampian had stopped her Pontiac Grand Am in the roadway due to the previous crash.

37-year-old Shawn McCully of Curwensville was unable to stop his Subaru Impreza in time and struck Rauckhorst’s vehicle.

Both of them had been wearing seatbelts and were not injured.
