Hyde, PA – A Clearfield County fire chief is facing charges for allegedly misusing funds since September of last year.

35-year-old Shane Nevling of Clearfield is the chief of the Hyde Volunteer Fire Company Station 6.

Nevling is accused of using Lawrence Township’s credit cards for gas and diesel purchases throughout the Clearfield area. The fuel was for vehicles that he and the rest of his family drove, not for his work with the fire company.

Lawrence Township Police have charged Nevling with a felony for access device fraud, plus misdemeanors for theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and identity theft.

Since September, he reportedly stole $600 from the township.

Nevling is lodged in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 16.
