St. Marys, PA – An Elk County man was arrested after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend and then getting into an armed standoff with police on Christmas Eve.
Late Monday night, officers were called out to the couple’s home in St. Marys by the girlfriend, who said that 26-year-old Joshua Cool had struck her in the head.
She was concerned that he was extremely intoxicated and possibly suicidal.
Police found Cool inside of the home with a pistol.
Cool reportedly refused to drop the gun, so police used a taser on him.
He escaped through a window, but police caught up to him and arrested him.
He remains in the Elk County Prison, facing charges for simple assault, resisting arrest, and harassment. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 8.
