Sandy Township, PA – A Massachusetts family is recovering from injuries and their young daughter was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital after a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 80.
Police say the tractor-trailer driver, 41-year-old Dovud Sharif of Illinois, was following the other car too closely around 5:40 Sunday morning.
The family’s car was rear-ended by the truck when they suddenly slowed down. The car lost control, struck a guide rail, then bounced to the other guide rail.
The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
Every member of the family had at least possible injuries and were taken by ambulance to Penn Highlands DuBois. They include the following, all from Worcester, MA:
- 47-year-old Agnes Samukai-Mulbah
- 41-year-old Edwin Mulbah
- 26-year-old Romeo Passewe
- 18-year-old Victoria Doe
- 7-year-old girl
- Another 7-year-old girl
- 5-year-old boy
One of the 7-year-old girls had more serious injuries and was flown from the scene to UPMC Pittsburgh.
Although there were seven people in the family’s car, their Infiniti FX35 only had five seats.
No one in the back seat, including all of the children, had been wearing any kind of seat belt.
