St. Marys, PA – Police need your help finding a Mercer County man who led them on a chase through St. Marys and is still at large.
42-year-old Wayne Sailar failed to stop for police on Dec. 20 and took officers on a 4-mile chase, ending in Siecker Road near a wooded area. Sailar and his passenger, Nichole Offie, fled on foot.
Officers caught Offie, who said that she and Sailar had recently come to the area and had been staying with Bill McDonald in Kane until they could find a place to live.
She admitted that they had pulled into the wooded area so Sailar could run and hide out for a few days if they were pursued.
Offie was taken to Elk County Prison.
Later that evening, a man matching Sailar’s description was seen at the Johnsonburg Kwik Fill but was not arrested. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a red shirt, a grey dark-colored zip-up hoodie, and a grey dark-colored beanie hat.
Sailer faces two felony counts for fleeing and eluding a police officer, plus flight to avoid apprehension. He also is charged with misdemeanors for resisting arrest, recklessly endangering another person, criminal mischief, and driving with a DUI-suspended license, and summary counts of traffic violations.
Sailer had previous convictions for drug possession, fleeing and eluding, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, escape, and obstructing official business. He has five criminal warrants and 16 traffic and non-traffic warrants for his arrest.
Sailar is also wanted by Merer County for failing to appear for court for a DUI charge, in Shenango Township for aggravated assault, Pulaski Township for flight to avoid apprehension, and Brookfield Township Police in Ohio for obstructing justice.
If you have seen Sailar or know where he might be now, please call the City of St. Marys Police Department at 814-781-1315 or Elk County Control at 814-772-0000.
