Clearfield, PA – The woman who helped murder one of her classmates in Clearfield County 20 years ago now has the possibility of being released on parole.

Jessica Holtmeyer was 16 years old in 1998 when she was sentenced to life in prison without a chance of parole.

She and the then 18-year-old Aaron Straw, among other teens, had hanged 15-year-old Kimberly Jo Dotts and bludgeoned her with a large rock after the girl had threatened to tell adults that the teens were planning on running away to Florida.

Now 36-year-old Holtmeyer has been re-sentenced to 35 years to life in prison for first-degree murder and 10 to 20 years for criminal conspiracy.

She had to be re-sentenced after a 2017 decision by the Supreme Court that ruled that juveniles could only be given life sentences with no chance of parole in very rare cases.

The family of Kimberly Dotts is petitioning that Holtmeyer should never be released from prison. Holtmeyer herself says she’s a different person now than she was when she was a teenager.
