DuBois, PA – Beaver Drive in DuBois is back open, 8 days ahead of schedule, after the bridge construction was completed Thursday afternoon.
The bridge over McCracken Run had been shut down since Sept. 10 for repairs.
The bridge needed to be able to hold the weight of the many tractor trailers that come through the Industrial Park.
Although the total cost of the bridge was more than $400,000, the majority of that was covered by multimodal transportation and Act 13 grant funding.
Since September, traffic was detoured onto Maple Avenue and Route 255, which caused congestion during busy times of the day. Traffic should flow more smoothly now that Beaver Drive is open again.
The City of DuBois say they’re thankful for how patient everyone has been in the meantime.
