Pennsylvania – Americans are going to spend a lot of money on tech gifts this year.
The Consumer Technology Association is out with its annual purchase pattern study, and CTA’s Steve Koenig says this year’s projection is big.
“This year we’re projecting a total tech gift spending for 2018 will tally $96.1 billion. That’s a 3.4 percent gain over last year.

Koenig says part of the driving force behind those numbers is a boom in innovation.
“This is everything from drones to wireless earbuds and headphones and everything in between. There’s so much innovation.”
Back in 1994 when CTA started the study, the popular items were cordless phones and gaming systems. Today, it’s different.
“Big focus on screens, smartphones, notebooks, and TVs, but also entertainment.”
