DuBois, PA – With the weather getting colder, volunteers are taking it up a notch and knitting more winter hats for chemotherapy patients!
Sherri Okonski from Rosie’s Book Shoppe has organized the collection drive for the past five years. They have collected thousands of hats, scarves, gloves, and slippers.
Most of the winter items are donated to the Hahne Regional Cancer Center in DuBois for local patients going through chemotherapy.
The extras are donated to other hospitals and to homeless organizations.
Jean Vandervort explained how unexpectedly cold she got when she went through chemo.
If you need yarn, patterns or some extra help figuring out how to knit or crochet the hats, just ask for help at Rosie’s Book Shoppe in DuBois.
Put your creativity to good use this winter and keep someone a little warmer!
