Brookville, PA – Brookville Council last night approved a new security agreement with the Brookville school district.

Both council and the district agreed to share in the cost of having a police officer at the high school throughout the day starting with the new school year.

Different officers will rotate assignments assisting school staff in having students go through metal detectors when they arrive at school each day.

Police chief Vince Markle says his overall mission in improving school safety starts with helping students and staff in building situational awareness.

Following an executive session, Council also approved hiring Austin Burney and Melinda Warnsing as new part-time police officers. They’ll replace two officers that left for full time work.
