Brookville, PA – The two sisters who are accused of abusing residents at a Brookville nursing home have been found guilty.

Haley and Hannah Shirey, both 22 years old and from Strattanville, are charged with neglect of a care-dependent person and simple assault.

Their sentencing date has not been scheduled yet.

In June of 2017, the Shirey sisters allegedly were consistently abusive towards at least two residents at Laurelbrooke Landing.

They reportedly hit one man in the face, choked him, and pulled his hair. Hannah Shirey is also accused of pouring ice water down another resident’s back when he made too much noise.

Charges against a third staff member have been dropped. She had been facing charges for not reporting the abuse as a mandated reporter.

WRC Senior Services, the owner of the nursing home, released a statement regarding the incident:

“WRC was made aware of potential elder abuse by two CNAs at McKinley Health Center. The police were immediately contacted and then informed of the allegations. The employees were also terminated. The main focus at WRC has been and will continue to be the well-being of our residents and clients. We have a zero tolerance policy for abuse. At this time, there is an open investigation, and WRC Senior Services is not able to comment or provide any additional details.”
