South Africa – A 16-year-old girl, McKenna Keltz got an opportunity to represent the American United Methodist Church at a youth summit in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The Global Young People’s Convocation brings more than 300 people from 40 countries to talk about the future of the church.
For the 16-year-old DuBois Area High School junior, young people belonging to organizations and traveling the world is important.
She said that the Convocation gave her a chance to meet people from different countries who all had the same goals in mind.
For five days, Keltz was as much an event worker as a delegate. She helped speakers prepare, coordinated with bands, attended meetings, and even worked with the group to develop legislation to be sent to the United Methodist General Conference in 2019.
