Brockway, PA – The Brockway borough police department had some room in its budget to purchase tourniquets for each officer.

The tourniquets have a holster that clips to the officers’ belts and can be used quickly in an emergency situation.

Police Chief Terry Young has been updating Brockway’s police equipment over the past few years, and the tourniquets join recent additions such as small battering rams, NARCAN sprays, and updated bulletproof vests.

The borough council also voted to continue a study on the Sheetz intersection.  Also, Sheetz is looking to sell beer and wine in Brockway. The transfer of the license will be the main topic of a public meeting held at the borough building on September 6 at 6:30.

Council President Chris “Smoke” Benson talked about the ongoing renovations at the Owens-Illinois glass plant on Route 219.  He said that this is a good sign for the community as Owens-Illinois has closed other plants but is expanding in Brockway.  He added that it shows that the plant will be there for years to come.
