Brockway, PA – For kindergarteners starting their first day of school this year in Brockway, there’s a unique opportunity this August… something they’re calling a “Friendraiser.”
The Brockway Education Foundation is hosting a “Friendraiser” in hopes that it will alleviate some of the nervousness of meeting friends in kindergarten for the first time.
Lisa Rutherford from the Foundation explained that the Friendraiser is a free pool party for the Class of 2031 and their parents. It will be at the pool at Taylor Memorial Park from 10 a.m. to noon on August 18.
All the kids have to bring is their swimsuit and towel. There will be snacks and drinks there already, along with more information about the school.
The goal of the Friendraiser is for new students to meet their classmates and their parents to meet other parents before school starts.
If successful, Rutherford hopes this event will lead to other “Friendraisers” in the future.
