Clearfield, PA – A Clearfield woman is facing charges after she crashed her vehicle into the Clearfield Creek last month. Lawrence Township Police arrived to a single-vehicle crash along Scribbers Road where a silver Ford Taurus was about 10 ft down in a ravine, in the water, with what appeared to be two adults and two children trying to escape the vehicle. The suspected driver, 27 year old Harley Daniels was said to be visibly shaken and her children, ages two and four, had sustained minor injuries from the crash.
During the investigation Daniels was reported as being “jittery” with dilated pupils, and raspy speech. Police asked if she had consumed any alcohol or drugs, to which she originally denied, but later admitted to having a prescription of Suboxone and being pregnant. Daniels then failed a field sobriety test and upon further investigation was found to have a white substance in her nasal passage.
Daniels also told police that it was only her and her children in the vehicle despite witnesses claiming to see a man exiting the vehicle after the crash and fleeing into the woods. Police then spotted Tyler Timko, Daniels boyfriend, a short while later attempting to run away from police after being asked repeatedly to stop. Tyler fell down a five foot embankment, ending the chase and was taken into custody for other outstanding warrants. He was also searched and found to be in possession of a controlled substance.
Daniels has been charged with DUI of a controlled substance, endangering the welfare of children, and other drug related charges. Timko has waived his charges to court and remains in the Clearfield County Jail.
