Clearfield County, PA – Three mosquito samples have tested positive for the West Nile virus in Clearfield County, including two in the City of DuBois. According to the DEP, the number of active West Nile cases will continue to rise throughout the summer months. Although no scheduled sprays are scheduled for the county at this time, experts say there will not be a spray scheduled until a much larger number of cases are reported.
Over 30 samples have been taken from Clearfield County and so far only three cases have come back as positive. In the meantime, the best course of action is to protect yourself when partaking in any outdoor activities with personal bug spray and stop giving mosquitoes a place to breed. You should get rid of any items in your yard that may be collecting water, clean your gutters, and make sure windows and doors have proper screens in place to prevent mosquitoes from getting inside your home.
