He says the old penny test can still be used, where the tread is measured to Lincoln’s head. Put a penny, head down, into the tire rim. As Andrew says, if you put the penny into the tread and it looks like Abe Lincoln just got a haircut, then you have enough tread. If it doesn’t reach Lincoln’s head, then your tread is too worn.
But not all tires are the same. There are different tires for different uses.
