Clearfield, PA – While police were responding to an assault in Clearfield, they ended up finding a couple who had stolen a vehicle from Alabama.

Officers had originally been called out to East Pine Street on Friday after 44-year-old Christopher Walters assaulted a 27-year-old man during an argument over water running down from the second-floor apartment onto the ground floor.

Walters allegedly first gave officers false identification, but he was IDed using a portable fingerprint scanner.

That’s when police learned that Walters was wanted for a motor vehicle theft in Alabama earlier this month. They saw a vehicle nearby with an Alabama registration and determined it was the stolen car.

Walters and the woman he’s traveling with, 33-year-old Autumn Hall, are both facing charges for receiving stolen property. Walters is facing additional charges of false identification to law enforcement, simple assault, and criminal mischief.

Bail has been set at $100,000 for Walter and $25,000 for Hall. There’s no word yet on when their preliminary hearing will be.
