Mineral Springs, PA – See you later alligator! The gator that had been spotted in the Mineral Springs sewage pond was captured.
A trapper from Sunderland Wildlife Pest Control got some help from a Louisiana man, David Loustalot, who had previous experience catching gators.
After many attempts to bait the animal, it was finally caught in a net on Tuesday.
Listen to the full interview with Sgt. Robert Dunbar from the North Central Region of the PA Fish and Boat Commission. (Interview is from June 25, before the alligator was caught.)
The alligator was safely captured and given to the rescue group, One Dog at a Time, which will then drop the creature off at the Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary in Lancaster.
After they make sure the alligator is able to survive on its own in the wild, it will be transported to Florida where it belongs.
Although the alligator was likely someone’s pet, it’s still unknown who dumped the animal at the sewage treatment facility.
If you have any information about who might have released the alligator, please call the North Central Region office of the PA Fish and Boat Commission at 570-398-4744. If caught, the person will face summary charges and will have to pay restitution to the sewage facility and to the pest control expert.
