Jefferson County, PA – An Armstrong County man was sentenced to nearly two years in jail after using a Jefferson County man’s credit card without his permission.
22-year-old John Steele of Freeport had been homeless and was staying with a Reynoldsville couple on Feb. 17 at the time of the theft.
Steele said he felt uncomfortable staying any longer, so he got a ride to stay with another friend in Indiana, PA.
However, he took the victim’s credit card without permission before he left.
Police were able to track him down in Indiana after the victim got phone calls from his bank about suspicious charges.
Steele pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of access device fraud and was sentenced to nearly two days of confinement. He’s currently serving his time in the Jefferson County Jail.
