Glen Richey, PA – A Clearfield County fire company is celebrating its 50th anniversary this weekend. The Glen Richey Volunteer Fire Company was founded in 1968 after several devastating fires in the little village near Clearfield.
Michelle Bloom, who serves on the Glen Richey Recreation Board and is in the fire company, says that the company has grown to not just include fire protection but now also a massive part of the community.
The fire company added a Quick Response Service to provide emergency medical aid in 1990.
A recreation board was added in 2005, which then went on the help create a basketball court, a picnic pavilion, a children’s playground, a walking trail, and ball fields that are used by Clearfield Little League and Girls Softball.
