Sandy Township, PA – A concerned citizen saw a dog locked in a car recently at the DuBois Mall and took all of the right steps.
Sandy Township Police got the report on Monday that a dog had been in a car for a long time.
Fortunately in this case, it turned out that the vehicle was running and the air conditioner was on, so the dog wasn’t in danger over overheating that soon.
However, that’s exactly what you should do when you see an animal locked in a vehicle.
First, look through the window to check on the condition of the dog.
Then take down the vehicle’s information. Try to find the owner by asking around or asking a nearby store to page their customers.
If you cannot find the owner, call your local police station’s non-emergency number and animal control.
