Pennsylvania – Statistics from state police for this year’s Memorial Day travel weekend show about the same numbers of crashes and injuries as last year.
Troopers investigated 787 traffic crashes during this year’s four-day holiday driving period from May 25 to May 28, as compared with 757 crashes investigated by state police during the same time last year.
The crashes this year resulted in 183 injuries, up slightly for the 178 injuries for the 2017 Memorial Day Weekend.
Alcohol was a factor in 70 of the crashes.
One statistic that went down… deaths. While nine deaths were handled statewide last year during Memorial Day travels, there were three deaths this year.
